Browse through our books, magazines and newspapers while relaxing in easy chairs. Do you want fast fiction, sporting legends, tense thrillers? Try our ‘Quick Reads’ – easy to pick up, hard to put down. Would you rather listen to a story? Try our new ‘Playaways’ which are spoken word in MP3 format. We stock the latest titles and they are free to borrow. At our Health Information Point – find out more about improving your health and well being.
Computers and I.T.
If you are a member of Forum Library you can use our computers *free of charge, for one hour per day. Library staff members are on hand to assist when needed and make sure you get the most out of the computers. You can surf the net, send e-mails, book more computer time, search the library catalogue or book that CD you've been looking for. *Thereafter £1 per hour or part hour, subject to availability.
Connect & Learn with Lifelong Libraries
- We offer six basic one-to-one training sessions to Manchester residents who are complete beginners (aged 16+) in the library – from switching on and surfing the Web to using email and word processing .
- Sessions, which last about an hour, are easy to book. They’re completely free. There’s no commitment beyond the session you’ve booked and absolutely no tests to do.
- We offer sessions in the evenings and at weekends too, so you can learn at your own pace, in your own time.
- There is no certificate or qualification for the learning we do together, but why stop here? Once you have a bit of computer confidence, you can take if further. We can help you find an accredited computer course.

Music, Films and Games
There's a huge music and film library on the ground floor packed with CDs and DVDs. Why not try our new Blu-Ray DVDs? Many titles are just £1 per week and new releases are £2 for 2 days.
Kids Library
Reference & Information Areas
On the first floor are resources for local and family history searches, job opportunities or searches for general and business information. In addition to the popular computer based learning centre and computers, you can book in advance to search the internet or send e-mails.
How to Join!
If you aren’t a member of Forum Library yet, it's so easy…. just come to one of the reception/loan desks and ask to join. You can borrow books right away. If you want to borrow multimedia items or use the computers, you need to show us proof of ID, including name and address.
Activities
On most days you will find a range of activities taking place - all are free!
- Coffee mornings - last Thursday of each month
- Story Time for under 5's - every Tuesday 11-12 noon , term time only
- Homework Centre - Mon, Tues, Thurs 3.30-8pm, Wed 3.30-5pm, Sat 10-3pm
- Reading Group - last Sunday of each month
